Well…the excitement of being in London was just too much for me so I woke up, put on my running/walking gear and ventured out into the world at 9am (very unlike me).
I ended up stopping at the Tesco for milk for my tea and a croissant. Then I explored my “borough” of Islington for awhile and then it was time to go home and get ready for the day.
I came “home” to my apartment at Nido Kings Cross, had some tea, got dressed and met up with some of the girls in my program to do real grocery & essential items shopping. We went back to the Tesco but this time i bought pasta makings, breakfast essentials, snack foods, etc. It is a saving grace for my wallet that I have a kitchenette. Then I went on to get a UK SIM card for my phone. I now have a US number, a German number, and a UK number! So international! I passed through a cute market called the Chapel Market, I will have to go back there! Finally I bought some much needed hangers because they of course did not come with my apartment.
I had just enough time to run home, drop off my stuff and then jet over to my program’s Orientation. Learned a lot about living and working in Britain, now I am prepared to make tea for my colleagues!
I had the rest of the afternoon to my self so I came home to my “flat”, worked on setting up my SIM card and talked with my lovely mother on facebook. By this time it was about 6pm and I had not eaten lunch so I was VERY hungry. I decided to go walk around Islington and the Camden Passage area and find food. After walking around a bit I decided to finally try “Wagamama” a sort of asian-stir fry place. I’m not usually into that type of food but it was really great! It is an expensive place but if you get green tea to drink that’s free! Kept the bill down to 8 pounds.
After that I walked around Camden Passage a bit, a shopping area I have never been and decided I am definitely going back for breakfast tomorrow!
Tomorrow I am doing a “test run” to my internship, and since its raining I will probably be taking the bus.
Now after another cup of tea and a hobnob, a British biscuit/cookie its off to bed for me after tons of research London!
This episode was AMAZING! Went from oh yes to oh no in seconds…
